I have an Index Basic-D braille embosser for sale. I am asking $2,500.00 USD. This unit has hardly been used, mostly in testing, and has printed no more than 100 pages. included with this printer is a box of 1,000 sheets of 8 and 1/2" by 11" 100 LB tractor feed braille paper.

Description: The Basic-D is a classic double-sided embosser. With the free WinBraille editor included, makes it one of the most versatile and cost-effective embossers in the market.

Speech Guided
Basic is controlled by an ink and braille labeled front panel. Combined with the speech feedback, it is easy to install and operate by blind and sighted users alike.

Reliable
Basic is one of the most reliable traditional tractor fed braille embossers on the market. This year’s model (version III) stands for higher quality and is even more reliable than previous versions. The Basic will easily cope with contentious braille production.

Portable
Bring Basic to the meetings in your organization. The high speed, low weight and the compact format makes it to the best portable braille embosser in the world.

Basic-D version III includes,
• Parallel port (ECP, EPP, SPP)
• USB port
• Network port (TCP/IP)
• Serial port (RS 232C)
• Light diodes for status information

The Index Basic-D can print up to 100 characters per second on both sides simultaneously.

WinBraille - Included free braille editor
Quick and easy embossing in contracted or normal braille in Word, Outlook, Explorer.

If interested, please reply to this post, email, or private message me, and I will be glad to answer any questions you may have.

One question: How noisey is this one? Could you print at home, if you live in an apartment, without disturbing the neighbours, or do you have to keep it in a soundproof closet while printing?
Thanks

Hello wildebrew:
This embosser is pretty quiet, although I make no guarantees on whether or not you will receive noise complaints. It is quieter than the Romeo RB-25 embosser, and about as loud as the Versapoint.
I don't have a specific dB measurement on it, which would be a bit more exact, I'm sorry.

Turns out the embosser is 76 dB. I'm not sure how far away from the unit that was measured at, but that figure was found on the indexbraille.com website.
